[Justice is minding his own business, taking inventory of the armory while everyone else sleeps when he feels it--the sudden loss of a dream.
He immediately stands at attention, narrowing his eyes as he focuses in on the feeling. It's coming from the captain's quarters. He doesn't know what happened, but whatever it was is weird and he needs to go investigate. He may not like the self-proclaimed captain, but that doesn't mean he should be ignored if he's in danger.
Loyalty is asleep, so Justice walks alone with a clipped pace towards the captain's quarters, just in time to see what visually appears to be a human walking away.]
You are not a member of this crew.
[This person doesn't feel like others. It puts Justice on edge, and the tension is clear in his body and how narrow his eyes are as he stares at the interloper.]
[that someone can see her while she's in her realm is something else - enough that it catches her off-guard, making her stop short to stare at Justice with wide eyes. There were creatures like that where she was from, of course, but she rarely encountered them, and here - well, she'd hadn't met too many.
But the surprise is brief, and she tilts her head to regard this person curiously - this spirit? She isn't sure]
No, I'm the Caprine's captain. [her tone is neutral and agreeing] I apologize if I've startled you, no one usually sees me like this.
Obviously, she's not human, though she appears to be. It puts him on edge that she's lurking around the ship invisible to humans, coming out of a room where any sense of a man's dream disappeared.] I see you because I am not human. What are you doing here?
We must have just missed each other, then. I've only been here a few months.
[she can't help but snort, softly] Yes, but seeing me means you must have some connection to the realm of dreams. Only those who do can see me when I'm here. [her form flickers for a moment, but becomes a touch more solid]
I was eating dinner. [she crosses her arms, but it isn't defensive; merely something to do with them so she isn't standing there awkwardly] I was given permission to eat someone's nightmares, that's why I'm here.
The realm of dreams is my home. That is where I came from.
[Justice eyes her warily. He doesn't really like the sound of 'eating nightmares'--it sounds a lot like the sort of thing fear demons do. But consent does matter in these issues, and he doesn't sense deception when she says she was given permission.]
You were given permission to devour a mortal's fear?
[He... he's actually sleeping more. It's amazing. He wakes up actually rested. Not a memory of dreams or nightmares, just a blurry feeling that they may've attempted to start. Curiosity kills him, especially the first day. But Baku continues life as normal, and he should do the same.
So he does. Someone has seen all the shit in his head, yet life continues. What is this miracle? After a week passes, he finally gives in, but only because his thoughts are in order now.]
[nobody is supposed to thank her. They do, sometimes - children who wake up after a dreamless sleep and turn over their pillows in delight, thanking the little tapir stitched to their pillowcases - but she had never once thought a thank you was necessary. It was a fair trade; a night of fitful sleep for a meal.
So the text surprises her, but who it's from does not]
You're welcome. (✿◠‿◠) Though I should be the one thanking you.
It's hard not to worry after everything I've seen and been through. I'm glad that mess is actually helping someone. And... talking to you now helps me, too.
[Because it means they're still friends even after she saw.]
[Cas is just kind of huddled on a bench near the building he'd mentioned, looking ill but still functional, at least, tucked up into his coat and shivering despite the strong sun.]
[After Anders wakes up from his month-long nap, there's a few people he reaches out to. It surprises even himself when Baku comes across his mind, but he wanted to reach out to her, to make sure she was still there and still well.
There's a momentary surge of relief when he finds her contact.]
[oh, Anders. She had wondered, when his dreams had been cut off to her, if he had left or if this was another coma situation. It was always abrupt - and sadly not something she could figure out, no matter how hard she tried, and she had to wait just like everyone else.
Still, though - this call should be going the other way. In fact, it catches her off-guard enough that there's a pause when she answers, and she sounds a bit confused]
Anders, hello. Check on me for what? Am I in trouble?
[she generally tries to stay out of trouble but sometimes she slips, or completely misses a human thing or who even knows]
[it's probably good he can't see her either, or she'd be giving him more fuel for teasing, because she gives the device another very confused look, eyebrows furrowed in deep thought]
Not to my knowledge? I normally try to stay out of trouble.
[Ah the tone of a joke flying over a friend's head. He learned it well with the always-too-literal Velenna.]
I'm sure you do.
I was joking, I don't believe you're in trouble, you're the good sort.
[Now for actually answering.]
I guess I was calling because I was worried. Things don't always go well here for one reason or another. I think of you as a friend; I like to make sure my friends are alright.

I'm sorry for Keith's terrible texting shorthand... he's literate, I swear. Just lazy.
